Jordan Brand will drop its most premium iterations of the Air Jordan 1 yet — the Air Jordan 1 "Wings" collection — in 2024. Featuring a fully made-in-Italy leather build, the "Wings" releases boast Jordan Brand's highest MSRP ever: $975 USD for the Air Jordan 1 High and $875 USD for the Air Jordan 1 Low.
First rumored at the top of 2023, the "Wings" were initially thought to have an MSRP between $1,300 USD and $1,500 USD until recent reports showed their price to be somewhat lower, though still substantial. Shown in photos from Matt "Corporate Got Em" Tomamichel, the "Wings" arrive in three styles: all-white high tops and low-tops with raw edges that show off their premium leather construction, as well as a low-top pair equipped with a "French Blue" swoosh and regular edging. All appear to feature a special ball-and-wings tongue tag with a "Made in Italy" hit, a nod to their construction, and, potentially, to the Air Jordan 2, which prominently featured the ball-and-wings logo on its tongue and was initially produced in Italy back in 1986.
The 2023 rumors around the "Wings" indicated six colorways (three High, three Low), though the supposed remaining colors have yet to be revealed. The market's reaction to this high-priced silhouette bears watching, as in 2014, Jordan Brand released the ill-received Air Jordan Shine, an Air Jordan 1-inspired silhouette with premium leather, a Bottega Veneta-like weave on its upper and a $400 USD price tag. On the other end of the spectrum, the brand had success with Don C's $650 USD Just Don x Air Jordan 2 collaborations in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
