Update: Official images of the Nina Chanel Abney x Air Jordan 3 have been revealed ahead of its launch later in the month. Check 'em out above, read the original story and prior updates below for more info on the shoe's design and inspirations — and expect the collaboration to drop via Nina Chanel Abney's Super Cool Studios website on June 13 before it touches down on Nike SNKRS and at various Jordan Brand stockists June 20.
Update: Just over a week after unveiling her latest project with Jordan Brand, Nina Chanel Abney is back with a detailed breakdown of her forthcoming Air Jordan 3 collaboration. On top of its mixed material construction outlined in our initial coverage below, additional special detailing has been revealed. What is presumably a Jumpman logo designed by her adorns not only the tongue, but the sockliner and special hangtag as well. Another unique element is the heel's chenille Nike Air logo that looks to have been created by Abney as well. Rounding out the reveal is an alternate set of orange laces, a "NINA" callout at the interior of the right shoe's tongue and a special shoebox. Stay tuned for updates as release is rumored to take place on June 20 at a price of $225 USD.

Original Story: Artist Nina Chanel Abney has taken to Instagram to reveal her latest project with Jordan Brand: a collaborative iteration of the Air Jordan 3. Arriving almost two years after Abney first linked with the Jumpman for a duo of takes on the Air Jordan 2, her take on Michael Jordan's third signature sneaker boasts a "Bicoastal/Black/Malachite/Fossil" color scheme and a canvas/suede construction.
News of the collaboration first surfaced in January, when sneaker leaker Brandon1an announced the color scheme, style code and a potential June release date, then Abney confirmed the rumors last week with a teaser of the shoe's heel tab. Our first full look at the style, shot by Tyler "Arab Lincoln" Mansour, shows off its key details, including a rich two-tone green canvas and suede upper, the aforementioned custom heel tab, a bone-colored midsole and an interesting play on proportions provided by extra-thick rope laces atop the slimmed-down tongue Mansour's photo also shows the arm of a jacket emblazoned with "NCA 23," an indication that the release may be accompanied by special apparel.
