Update: We're still awaiting word on an official release date for the three-colorway Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 collection, but after ALD founder Teddy Santis provided the first full look at the monochromatic trifecta earlier this week a new set of highly-detailed images have been revealed. Shot by renowned sneaker photographer Tyler "Arab Lincoln" Mansour, the images show off all the key details of the collaboration and even reveal a new twist: that each pair comes equipped with a custom silver hangtag. Check out the set of flicks above, read the original article and previous updates below for more info and stay tuned for further details on a date of arrival as they're made available.
Update: As we wrap up the month of May, Teddy Santis has once again offered a preview of his forthcoming Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 project, this time unveiling a third colorway in all-gray that joins all-white and all-black renditions of the sneaker that he has also showcased. With our best look at the collaboration yet, each pair sports "aimé" branding at the lateral toe and textured rope laces, accompanying the retro build. No release details have been shared just yet, but with all of the colorways unveiled, it's due to drop sooner than later.
Update: Teddy Santis took to Instagram at the start of the month to tease his rumored Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 in a slick white and gray colorway pictured above. While no release details were shared, he then switched gears to drop another collaborative T500 last week. Now, he's returned with another preview of his work with the 1000 silhouette -- this time showcasing a black colorway with white contrast stitching and "aimé" branding at the lateral toe, pictured in the gallery below. Stay tuned for more updates as the collaboration is likely to land on shelves soon.
Original Story: New Balance is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the New Balance 1000 this year, not only bringing it back via in-line launches, but offering it as a canvas for its prominent collaborators to outfit as well. Joe Freshgoods kicked things off with the two-part "When Things Were Pure" pack last month. Now, hot off of its in-line debut in "Silver Metallic," the sneaker has been revealed to be part of a forthcoming project with Aimé Leon Dore.
As unveiled by ALD founder and New Balance MADE in USA creative director Teddy Santis, this first look at the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 comes equipped with a versatile white and gray color arrangement that features ALD branding sprinkled in at the tongue, sockliner and the lateral forefoot of the upper. Leaning primarily on white, a soft gray hue is included at the "N" logos on each side while also gracing various overlays.
At the time of writing, neither Teddy Santis nor New Balance have disclosed when this Aimé Leon Dore-designed version of the New Balance 1000 will be arriving on shelves. Stay tuned for updates, including the possible reveal of additional colorways, as we expect the sneaker to release later this year via New Balance, Aimé Leon Dore and select retailers around the $170 USD price point.
