Mattel’s Matchbox brand is racing into sustainability with a new die-cast car modeled after an electric Mercedez-Benz vehicle. The car features 99.5% recycled metal and a minimum of 81% ISCC-certified plastic.

The 1:64 scale replica is inspired by the Mercedez-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, with a blue exterior and black interior. The die-cast car comes with a base that attaches to the packaging lid for easy display.
The car showcases sustainability values promoted by Matchbox’s Driving Toward a Better Future campaign, which launched in 2022. The campaign adds electric vehicles to the brand’s portfolio and promotes efforts toward the brand’s goal of 100% recycled, recyclable, or bio-based plastics in toys and packaging by 2030.
We can drive toward a better future together as we stay committed to using more sustainable materials while simultaneously bringing fans realistic replicas of their favorite cars.
“We are very pleased that our all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, the electric model of our off-road icon, is making its way into the versatile model range of Matchbox cars,” says Michael Knöller, Head of the Off-Road Vehicles division and CEO of Mercedes-Benz G GmbH. “We are convinced that it will find its way to many enthusiasts — even outside the G-Fans community.”
Matchbox has additional plans for more Mercedez-Benz electric vehicles coming later this year to its Moving Parts Series. The new Matchbox Mercedes-Benz G 580 With EQ Technology is available for preorder now while supplies last exclusively on the Mattel Creations shop.
