Hasbro and Nex have redesigned classic games from the Hasbro catalog for Nex Playground console gamers. The first release, Hungry Hungry Hippos: Move n’ Munch, uses AI motion tracking technology, developed by Nex, so players need to use their entire bodies and jump, squat, and wave their arms to help Hippos snack on some food.

A family of four can play the active game together. Hungry Hungry Hippos: Move n’ Munch, available now, joins other active Nex Playground games like Peppa Pig: Jump & Giggle.

“Nex Playground is a groundbreaking product that brings families together all over the world. This is the perfect platform to provide healthy and fun new ways to engage with our beloved brands like never before,” says Eugene Evans, SVP Digital Strategy and Licensing at Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast. “This innovative collaboration with Nex further demonstrates our strategy to grow our digital games portfolio through licensing and internal development. From Peppa Pig to Dungeons & Dragons, we are always on the lookout for studios that share our creative vision and passion for bringing our brands to life.”

Later this year, families can use their Nex Playground console to play games based on Connect 4 and Candy Land. Kids can practice their hand-eye coordination with the games as they move around to play, and the cooperative aspects will aid social and emotional development.

“Tapping into parents’ nostalgia, we’re excited to use Nex technology to bring a whole new level of interactivity to Hasbro’s classic games, enabling kids and adults to enjoy them in entirely new ways,” says David Lee, Co-Founder and CEO of Nex.

The new classics-inspired games are for individual players or groups of four. Kids ages 5 and up can help feed the hippos and play the upcoming Connect 4- and Candy Land-themed games. The games will be included in the Play Pass content subscription bundle. Families can subscribe to an annual play pass or quarterly play pass to access the games.
