A stand-alone Peppa Pig amusement park is coming to China.
Representatives from Hasbro, the Shanghai Chongming District Government, and Max-Matching Entertainments Co. celebrated plans for a new development at a ceremony on April 24. The Peppa Pig amusement park will cover about 48 acres on Changxing Island, China’s third-largest island, located about 50 miles from Shanghai.
The park’s development comes courtesy of Hasbro’s partnership with Chinese company Max-Matching Entertainments Co. The company invested approximately $331 million in the park and has signed as Hasbro’s strategic local partner in the venture.
“Construction of the Peppa Pig outdoor theme park in Changxing Island in Chongming marks a significant milestone for Hasbro in China and a natural evolution for the Peppa Pig brand, reflecting the scale of opportunity in the country and our commitment to developing our business with the support of strategic licensing partner Max-Matching Entertainments in China,” says Matt Proulx, Senior Vice President, Global Experiences, Partnerships and Music at Hasbro. “We will continue to work closely together to develop more projects in China, including bringing Peppa Pig outdoor theme parks and memorable live experiences to more cities for Chinese children and families to enjoy.”
Cai Xiaofei, Deputy Director at Changxing Island Administrative Committee adds, “The Peppa Pig outdoor theme park will further enhance Shanghai as a global tourism destination and propel its economy.”
The single-IP theme park will feature rides, shows, and a themed hotel. It is expected to open in 2027.
