Transmedia company Elf Labs has amassed a portfolio of 400 copyrights and more than 140 trademarks for some of the most well-known kids characters, including Snow White, the Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, and more. The company acquired the catalog of Junior Elf books, which features more than 200 titles originally published by Rand McNally.
Elf Labs’ platform is a multi-patented system designed to incubate, develop, and launch mega IP franchises. Combining the world's most iconic IP with captivating creative and revolutionary technology will allow Elf Labs to truly reimagine entertainment.
Elf Labs is collaborating with Founder of Baboon Animation and Dreamworks alumnus Mike De Seve to create reimagined versions of these characters with AI-powered production and distribution.
The company tested the waters through the Once Upon a Zombie series, which features Zombie Cinderella, Zombie Rapunzel, Zombie Tinker Bell, and more. The initial release sold 100,000 copies and won 12 awards, including The Purple Dragonfly Award for Best YA Fiction and The President’s Award for Best Juvenile Fiction.
A creative production is only as good as its storyline, and the all-star roster of characters that Elf Labs secured has provided my team with an incredible jumping-off point. I am excited to partner with David and the team to bring innovative content to life across many mediums.
Elf Labs is also collaborating with tech company Cosmic Wire to integrate augmented and virtual reality experiences into its storytelling.
“Cosmic Wire’s technology allows for a whole new level of immersion into IP, unlike anything that has existed before,” says Jerad Finck, CEO and Founder of Cosmic Wire. “Elf Labs’ willingness to push the boundaries creatively and experientially makes them the perfect partner for us to co-create a groundbreaking transmedia storytelling experience.”
Elf Labs will also monetize these IPs through licensing, including AI-powered toys, books, apparel, and more alongside video content.
