Update: At last, Kawhi Leonard and New Balance have officially announced the debut of the KAWHI IV. The Los Angeles Clippers star was spotted wearing the new design throughout the second half of the NBA's regular season and is now set to bring it to the public during his upcoming series against the Dallas Mavericks. The sneaker is designed to complement Leonard's dynamic two-way game -- utilizing Energy Arc technology, which "combines sport-specific carbon fiber plate geometry with strategic midsole voids." This pairs with FuelCell cushioning to emphasize energy return while the upper favors a lightweight mesh upper with synthetic overlays.
For its two debut colorways, the pink "Transcend Reality" look recalls old-school video game graphics while the white and red "Transcend the Game" is inspired by Leonard's timeless style of play. Both pairs are set to drop via New Balance and select retailers on April 25 at a starting price of $160 USD. Enjoy an official preview of the pair above and stay tuned for updates regarding new colorways as it's mentioned that more are set to arrive both before the postseason's end and during the summertime.
Original Story: Kawhi Leonard is poised to make another deep run in this year's NBA playoffs as him and the Los Angeles Clippers are close in the fight to win the Western Conference. While he continues to light up the court with his clutch jumper, he's also looking to make noise off the court with the release of his next signature shoe with New Balance. Last year, the duo introduced the KAWHI 3, though it didn't stay on shelves for long as, according to a report from Complex, it had an issue with its uppermost eyelet.
Now, it's time for the New Balance KAWHI 4 to hit the court as early imagery of the new sneaker has been shared. Its technical specifications remain unknown, however, this pink colorway of the shoe utilizes a low-top build that features a patterned upper. Notably, its lateral lacks any prominent branding, offering a small orange "N" just below the collar. As for its medial, a large "N" logo in the same orange occupies a majority of the upper's midfoot. Looking to the heel, a "KAWHI" hit in black is set against a white background, matching the patterned heel portion of the midsole.
At the time of writing, New Balance has not officially revealed Kawhi Leonard's fourth signature shoe. The KAWHI 4 is currently scheduled to release via BSTN on January 31 at 6pm EST at a price of $170 USD, however, this is likely to be adjusted as the brand has not unveiled the sneaker yet. Stay tuned for updates as we await official word from New Balance and Leonard.
