Ravensburger, the publisher known for its jigsaw puzzles and board games, will be the new distributor of Othello, a strategy board game that has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. Ravensburger will be distributing the game across the U.S. and Canada, beginning Aug. 1.
For the first time in Othello’s 50-year history, the game’s rulebook will be printed in color. Designed for two players, the game’s objective is for players to have the majority of the two-sided, black-and-white disks face up with their designated color at the end of the game. Players can also “sandwich” their opponent’s pieces to gain more disks of their color, creating a fast-paced, suspenseful experience.
Othello is a natural fit for Ravensburger's games portfolio. The motto, 'A minute to learn… a lifetime to master' captures our own philosophy of designing games that are easy to learn, that offer depth and replayability, and that are ideal for [multiple] generations, bringing kids and grandkids together around the table."
Othello is recommended for players ages 8 and up and will be available at hobby and specialty stores for $24.99 USD and $29.99 CAD.
