Global designer Basic Fun! and toy company Hasbro are coming together to bring an iconic product back to shelves.
The two companies announced a worldwide licensing agreement for Basic Fun! to manufacture and distribute classic and reimagined products from the Stretch Armstrong brand, which introduced the first super-stretch action figure nearly 50 years ago.

They aim to preserve the toy’s timeless charm while incorporating new and enhanced features to engage a new generation of toy lovers. The Stretch Armstrong toys will be filled with “Power Plasma,” allowing them to stretch up to five times their original size and repeatedly return to their original form. Fans can also expect to see Stretch Armstrong’s nemesis, Van-Man, as part of the new product line.
The classic character design of Stretch Armstrong, cherished by many generations, will remain intact, while a fresh “newstalgic” edition will be added to create a reimagined version for today’s kids.
We are honored to work with Hasbro to reimagine this legendary brand for a new generation of children, as well as long-time kidult fans and collectors. We share Hasbro’s passion for Stretch Armstrong and look forward to stretching the limits of this multigenerational phenomenon and creating new ways for kids to engage and play with their favorite action figures.”
Additionally, Basic Fun! has partnered with other entertainment brands to license Stretch Armstrong-inspired character action figures.
“At Hasbro, we’re always looking for ways to bring our brands to life for new generations of fans. Stretch Armstrong has always been a symbol of fun, imagination, and endless possibilities. Alongside Basic Fun!, who has done an incredible job reviving classic Hasbro properties like Lite-Brite and Tonka, we’re proud to reintroduce this timeless character with fresh features that open new ways to play. We can’t wait for kids to experience the fun of stretching, bending, and creating their own epic adventures with this iconic hero,” says Bradley Bowman, Senior Director, Licensed Consumer Products, Global Toy at Hasbro.
Basic Fun!’s Stretch Armstrong toys will be available globally starting this fall. For more information on the licensing deal, visit hasbro.com and basicfun.com.
