Although the holiday season has passed, the joy it brings remains.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police of the Central Region (RCMP), with the help of the Toys for the North, successfully delivered more than 28,000 toys across remote Northern Canada, sharing festive cheer and breaking their all-time donation record.

The philanthropic Toys for the North drive, under the Canadian Toy Association (CTA), has been delivering toys to Canadian kids in need for over a decade, celebrating its 14th anniversary in 2024. After months of preparation, thousands of donated toys were dropped off at Thomson Terminals in Toronto in December, ready to be flown out to kids in Canada’s North, including Northern Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

Airlines such as Gardwine, North Star Air, and the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) safely delivered the toys to their destinations so that they could reach the hands of children in time for the holidays. The RCMP members successfully spread joy throughout Canada, providing over $615,000 worth of toys to communities, topping last year’s more than $559,000.

“Each toy delivered represents a moment of joy and a touch of magic for each child during the holiday season,” says Sargent Angelique Dignard, who has led the campaign for the past three years. “Last year, we were able to deliver gifts from coast to coast for the first time, and this year, we had our largest donation of toys to date. I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved, and on behalf of the communities, thank you to everyone for your generosity and hard work.”

RCMP and Toys for the North offer their heartfelt thanks to their partners and dedicated organizations, including the CTA, Thomson Terminals Limited, North Star Air, Gardewine, and the RCAF, as well as the volunteers who helped achieve this amazing feat.
