eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at info@wornandwound.com for potential inclusion!
Vintage Benrus
Starting off this week with a classic Benrus 3 Star vintage dress watch. The yellow gold fill case has a nice slim bezel and slim lugs, and is in excellent condition. The silver dial has a really neat radial brushed finish that radiates outward to the right from the 9 o’clock side, very unusual. There is a gold framed round date window at 6 o’clock that has a matching round date magnifier window in the original acrylic crystal. The watch comes on a gold tone stretch bracelet that probably isn’t original but is definitely period correct. This gem comes in the original Benrus box. Runs well per the seller, but no picture of the automatic movement.
Vintage Hamilton LED Watch
Another week, another vintage LED watch. These seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately for some reason. But I’m glad they are because they are just too retro-cool. This example is a vintage Hamilton with its original bracelet and box and hangtag. The watch is gold plated, with a slim, space-age case and integrated bracelet. The seller states the bracelet will fit a 7.25” wrist max, and snugly at that, so keep this in mind if you have a larger wrist. The watch runs, and all segments are working per the seller. The box and original hang tag are an added bonus.
Vintage Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark II
No, it’s not the “moon watch” Speedmaster, but this vintage Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark II is still a Speedmaster! Departing from the classic Speedmaster style, this chunky beast debuted in 1969, but looks very 1970’s with its 42mm oval case and integrated style bracelet. The steel case is in good condition, looks unpolished with sharp edges and original brushed finish. There is a chip on the edge of the crystal, but the dial looks to be excellent. The caliber 861 manual wind chronograph movement looks clean and works well per the seller. The seller does state that the bracelet might not be entirely original, but at least it looks the part.
Vintage LeJour Automatic Chronograph
Here we have another 1960’s/1970’s vintage chronograph, this time a LeJour with PVD case and Valjoux 7750 movement. The PVD coated steel case is unpolished, but like most PVD cases it shows wear to the finish, but this just gives it a great patina’d look if you ask me. The black three register dial looks immaculate, with nicely aged lume markers and a day/date window at 3 o’clock. The watch is powered by the iconic Valjoux 7750 automatic movement, a true workhorse. The movement looks clean and works well per the seller.
Vintage Omega
Next up is a nice vintage Omega presentation watch, complete with original box and papers. The watch is a simple style dress watch, with slim gold fill case and slim lugs. The case is unpolished with sharp edges, and a presentation award engraving on the steel caseback. The silver dial is clean, with simple stick markers and hands and a date window at 3 o’clock. Best of all, this watch comes with the complete set, inner and outer boxes, and all the paperwork. No movement picture, but the seller states the watch runs well. Really cool to have an Omega full set like this.
Bulova Wrist Alarm
Finishing up this week with a beauty, a vintage Bulova Wrist Alarm. Bulova made a few different versions of this over the years, and this is one of the later models. Despite the seller’s title, I believe this one is from the early 1970’s. The chunky steel cushion case measures 37mm wide, and is in superb condition. Unpolished, with sharp edges and original brushed finish. The black dial looks perfect, with cool blue inner hash marks for the blue arrow tipped alarm hand. The dual crowns are signed “Bulova” as they should be. This gem comes on the original steel bracelet, with the buckle signed as well. The Bulova caliber 11AURCD manual wind movement is clean and works well per the seller. Great piece in amazing condition, a rare find!
