It’s long been a goal of the Worn & Wound team to use our platform to support charitable causes. Despite making philanthropic contributions from time to time over the years, we’ve never really used the full might of our platform to make an impact. And so I am very excited to share with the Worn & Wound community our partnership to support the 2025 Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Before we get to the details…a little backstory. In 2023, at the NYC Windup Watch Fair, I got to chatting with friend, designer, and fellow watch-nerd, Matt Smith-Johnson. Matt’s been coming to Windup for as long as I can remember to support projects he’s worked on (like this, this, and this) or just basking in the watch tsunami that is the Fair.

In the course of catching each other up on our lives, my sister’s then-recent breast cancer diagnosis came up (she’s doing great, btw!), which prompted Matt to share something I found really incredible. For nearly a decade, Matt has taken part in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two-day, 200+ kilometer cycling event through Southern Ontario, Canada, which raises funds for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre—one of the world’s leading cancer research institutions. Needless to say, I was inspired by his commitment to the cause.

The Ride to Conquer Cancer, launched in 2008, has raised over $300 million for cancer research and care, including $20.6 million in 2024 alone. Each year, more than 5,000 participants come together to support advancements in treatment and care that benefit patients worldwide.

It turns out that Matt’s 10th consecutive year participating in the ride falls in June 2025. As we continued talking, the conversation shifted to how Worn & Wound might be able to support his incredible efforts. It became clear that by combining Matt’s dedication to the Ride to Conquer Cancer with Worn & Wound’s ability to reach and rally a passionate community, we could amplify his impact in a meaningful way. And with that, our partnership was born—a collaboration rooted in shared values and a commitment to making a difference.

So, what’s the plan? We’ve formed a team of riders to participate in the upcoming Ride to Conquer Cancer, including some members of the watch community you may be familiar with. Each rider will be raising funds to support their ride, with a minimum fundraising goal of $2,500. We’ll be riding under the team name that Matt has used throughout his ten-year run, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop.

We’ve also asked some of our favorite brands to support the effort. Below, you’ll find a list of corporate team sponsors. If you operate or work at a brand and would like to support our team, please don’t hesitate to contact me at blake@wornandwound.com.

Now, let’s meet our team of riders.

Matt Smith-Johnson: Watch designer and team captain.
Allen Farmelo: Freelance watch journalist and founder of Beyond The Dial.
Atom Moore & Brea Taylor-Munro: Celebrated watch photographer and creative designer, teaming up on a tandem bike.
Blake Malin: Worn & Wound Co-Founder and CEO.
Brock Stevens: Navy diver and social influencer.
Ethan Anderson: Passionate cyclist, watch enthusiast, and photographer.
Evan Perrone: Watch enthusiast and passionate cyclist.
James Helms: Worn & Wound Co-Founder and COO.

If this is a cause close to your heart, we hope you’ll consider making a contribution to help us meet our fundraising goals. While each rider is required to fundraise $2,500, we think we can blow that target out of the water. Collectively, we’re hoping to raise at least $50,000. 100% of every dollar donated contributes to the critical work being done at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. We’ll keep you posted on our fundraising progress and, of course, take you along for our ride in June. We have some exciting initiatives cooking with our friends at Cannondale and StapHabit, which we’ll share more about in the coming weeks and months. Till then, any support you can provide is greatly appreciated.
