As historic wildfires continue ravaging the Los Angeles area, the toy industry is mounting efforts to help displaced children and families.
The Toy Foundation tells The Toy Book that its logistics partner, World Vision, is already en route to LA with essential supplies and pallets of toys and games.
Two truckloads departed Fife, Washington, and Dallas, Texas, yesterday en route to the Los Angeles Dream Center. The initial shipments include water, face masks, food, air beds, hygiene kits, bedding/sheets, coolers, and toys (plush, games, and products for all ages).
At press time, more than 100,000 residents have fled their homes, and the shelters need help.
Immediate Ways to Help:
- Donate toys and games to The Toy Bank: Click here.
- Make a cash donation to The Toy Foundation’s Emergency Relief Play Grants program: Click here.
Other Ways to Help:
- Make a cash donation to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation’s Wildfire Emergency Fund.
- Make a cash donation to American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
- Make a cash donation to The Salvation Army — Southern California Division.
- Support World Central Kitchen in their efforts to supply fresh meals to displaced families.
Please note that while physical product donations are generous, in some cases, the logistics and quantities can be overwhelming for relief organizations. In these cases, a cash donation is the best option to support the relief efforts.
The Toy Book will continue monitoring the situation in Los Angeles and will update this post with additional information and ways to help as we have it.
