Update: After rumors of the Air Jordan 8 "Aqua" making a return to market in 2025 began to swirl back in July, we've now been given a first look at the forthcoming release. And, much like the lion's share of Air Jordan retros slated for the upcoming year, the brand seems to have taken the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" adage to heart. Uppers boast familiar black and medium grey paneling, in line with the original 1993 release and prior retros that dropped in 2015 and 2018 (longtime Air Jordan fans will note, however, that 2007's "Aqua" retro used a non-OG monochromatic black upper). However, there is one significant difference — though it's one that only dyed-in-the-wool purists are likely to mind. The signature aqua blue and purple midsoles are presented without their normal sparkle detailing, providing a slightly more mature look than past retros.

Original Story: 2025 is gearing up to be the year for retro re-releases from Jordan Brand. The Air Jordan 8 "Aqua" is slated to make a come back next summer. Seen worn by Michael Jordan during the NBA 1993 All-Star Game, the shoe has a recognizable silhouette and make. With an upper crafted with premium nubuck to give the shoe its luxe feeling, while maintaining the classic basketball aesthetic, the shoe has touches of color to give the show its signature look. It has a tri-tone chenille Jumpman on the tongue, giving a nod to the classic AJ8. Inspired by Tinker Hatfield's Air Raid silhouette, the shoe also features a midfoot strap for added stability to enhance the inner bootie system. The "Aqua" colorway is amongst one of the three OG colorways debuted in 1993. Stay tuned next summer for the release.
