Japanese sport equipment and apparel company Mizuno has created a new technology that can design, manufacture and print 3D soles in specified dimensions, titled 3D U-Fit.

The proprietary technology looks to perfect how consumers fit in their shoes, allowing them to fine-tune the width and comfort level in their soles to meet their needs. The first-ever release will be available in two colors — white and black — with two different soles, "Type-A" and "Type-B." Both versions aim to reduce the wearer's stress by evenly distributing their weight across the sole of the foot.

With sizes ranging from 22 to 29 centimeters, each sole is created with measurements of the wearer's feet, which are sent to the Yamakazi Lambard factor, operated by Mizuno Technics, where the sole is produced. The custom-designed sole, which has been patented in Japan and the United States, takes roughly two weeks to create.

Mizuno Tokyo will start accepting orders for its personalized fitting shoes on April 1, 2025. Each design will cost ¥55,000 JPY.
