Aimé Leon Dore and Porsche caused a significant ripple with the reveal of their bespoke 993 Turbo project earlier this week — a rich, green-and-brown take on the beloved roadster. However, sneaker sleuths were drawn to something else that was (somewhat sneakily) revealed as part of the project and shares part of the car's name: a fresh Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 993 collaboration.
Though only a single image of the made-in-the-USA 993, propped on the Porsche's butter-soft leather seats, was revealed, it provided plenty of context. Uppers feature a rich medley of suede, mesh and leather, mostly dressed in green to match the car's exterior. However, yellow and slate grey supply some potent accents and the midsole uses bone and white tones for an elevated contrast as well. One thing that can't be seen is if Aimé Leon Dore branding appears in its standard spots on the heel and tongue, but if past collaborations are any indication it likely does.
At the time of writing, Aimé Leon Dore hasn't provided an official release date for the sneaker. It's also worth noting that Porsche likely wasn't involved in the sneaker's creation in any fashion — instead, it's probably a part of an extensive Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche gear collection that'll likely be touching down at the brand's London store on November 22 to accompany the car's official debut (it'll be on display at the store on November 22 and November 23). Enjoy a first look at the collab above, and stay tuned for more info as it's made available.
