When Junya Watanabe sent his eponymous brand's FW24 collection down the runway at Paris Fashion Week in March, sneaker and mule lovers alike spotted a unique piece of footwear accompanying the sculptural garments — namely the Ora Primo mule from HOKA, covered in silver chains. Now, more than half a year later and with the collection starting to make its way to stores, the punkish take on HOKA's popular mule is set to hit shelves as well.
Where in-line Ora Primo releases centered their design around thick, undulating rope laces for an organic, gorp-adjacent look, this collaborative iteration instead uses strings of silver chain for a look that's part punk rock and part hip-hop. These embellishments are most prominent on the forefoot, but a single set of links wraps around the heel as well, sitting directly behind branded insoles to complete the special look. There are also a few standard pieces left untouched, from the branded HOKA tongue pull to the zig-zag-stiched heel tab.
If you're hoping to secure a pair of these modified mules for yourself, you can expect the Junya Watanabe x HOKA Ora Primo to release via Junya Watanabe stockists on November 18. They're priced at ¥75,900 JPY, or roughly $491 USD.
