It's been an eventful off-season for the Boston Celtics star. Jaylen Brown has officially launched his own performance brand, 741, taking to Instagram to make the reveal. Launching the official website, NBA champion unveils the sportswear brand with the announcement of his first signature sneaker.
In the official press release, it stated that Brown had "turned down over $50 million in endorsement deals from other major sneaker companies to pursue full ownership and creative control of his own brand." Taking the risk, Brown understood what he could bring to the table and wanted to create a legacy beyond the courts. Brown said, "The understanding of ownership and value is what’s important for the next generation of athletes." He aded, "It's time to think different and be different...create new ideas. It's time to create more value for everyone involved, from athletes to consumers to employees and the communities that support them." On how he came up with the "741" brand name, he recalls the deeper meaning behind these numbers, "The name '741' is more than just a sneaker brand—it's a statement about independence, creativity, and ownership." Inspired by the late-Kobe Bryant's Mamba Mentality, he hopes to bring the same fearlessness to his brand, "pushing sports, along with society, to new heights. That’s the mindset I’m bringing to 741."
Dropping his first signature shoe, which appears to feature an all-black mesh upper and slip-on technology for no lacing, the shoe sits atop a black midsole and purple outsole. Brown promises that fans will get to see him don his own 741 sneakers on and off the court this season. Pre-orders are now available at 741 and other products are slated to go on sale starting on October 22.
