After promising to announce his next New Balance collab this week, Aminé has followed through. The multifaceted musician and seasoned sneaker designer is now serving up a take on New Balance's 740v2 model dubbed the "BTEE470" – named after the high school at which he began his trajectory into music.
"The Radio KBPS program at Benson Tech was the beginning of my musical journey," he wrote on Instagram when revealing the collaboration. "I wanted to pay homage to that fact with a $25,000 donation to radio program graduates to help with their college expenses."
The BTEE40 pays homage to Benson Tech in not only its name but its design profile as well, with the sneakers fully engulfed in the school's striking royal blue and orange colors. "BTEE" is written on the midsole, with more of the school's signage on both the heel caps and the tongue.
The sneakers come encased in a box that further pays tribute to Benson Tech's Radio KBPS program. Resembling a computer, the box comes adorned with stickers on the outside and features a keyboard-like design on the interior.
"Three studio albums. Four mixtapes. 2x Award loser. 11x platinum. PSU dropout. 5 billion streams. Festival founder. Hometown hero. Two NB collabs. And yeah, a Benson grad," reads the pamphlet included in the box.
Peep the sneakers in the gallery above, and expect them to land for purchase on November 1.
