Across the past two years, Nike has paid homage to the late Jackie Robinson with special colorways of some of its most iconic models. 2022 marked the 75th anniversary of Robinson becoming the first African American to play in a Major League Baseball game within the modern era, which the Swoosh honored with a Dunk Low release that ended up in the top ten most-popular SNKRS releases list that year.
Now, after the Air Force 1 Low celebrated Robinson last year, the Air Max 1 '86 has been prepared with the theme. This time around, a color arrangement of white and navy has been utilized, with the former arriving at the suede mudguard, the laces and midsole while the latter covers the remainder of the upper. Mesh and suede are layered atop one another while special feather-shaped embroidery hits the Swooshes. Elsewhere, gold accents the look at the heel branding, uppermost eyestays and the "42"-themed dubrae and tongue badge.
At the time of writing, Nike has not yet revealed its release plans for this Air Max 1 '86 in its "Jackie Robinson" tribute colorway. Stay tuned for updates as it's likely to land on shelves at some point in the coming months via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $170 USD.
