After joining forces last year to reissue the Rowley XLT, Vans and Dime have reunited to create a custom edition of the Vans Mixxa with Vancouver-based skater Una Farrar.
Meant to be worn as a "daily driver," the all-black sneaker features a signature SickStickā¢ rubber sole, DURACAPā¢ rubber underlays, a thick tongue, wide laces, big heel tabs and a legion of special details, like a warped iteration Vans checkered pattern on the collar and midfoot. Farrar created a custom clover hit, which lives on the lateral forefoot overlay, as an homage to her Irish heritage, while Dime's woodmark takes over the heel. Elsewhere, Farrar's drawings decorate the model's co-branded insoles.
"I wanted the colorway of the Mixxa to be quiet and clean so anybody can wear it," Farrar said in a statement. "Black and gum is subtle and classic. It is a huge honor to see my name on a shoe and share it with brands I'm inspired and aligned with. I like the nostalgic silhouettes of the early 2000s, so the Mixxa was a perfect fit. I added a little extra luck on the side with the clover."
The Vans Mixxa by Una Farrar and Dime will release via Dime on September 21 before landing in select Vans Skateboarding stores on September 26. Take a look at the design in the gallery above.
