After dropping its famous Rodeo Bag campaign starring Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts and Isabelle Huppert last month, Balenciaga has returned to shine the spotlight on another one of this season's hero products: the 3XL Sneaker.
Shot by Chris Lensz, the sartorial delivery sees models wearing the ultra-sized sneakers with Balenciaga's more casual ready-to-wear silhouettes while standing or sitting in empty domestic settings. The minimalistic approach lets the shoes — poking out from under baggy denim and taking centerstage with black socks and shorts — do all the talking.
The sneaker itself is an exaggerated take on the classic high-performance running shoe, with a super-wide shape and technical mesh build. Coming in a range of neutral tones and bright hues, the silhouette boasts reflective details on the back and the 3XL-branded tongue, which is held snugly in place by especially thick laces. Balenciaga's logo is nestled on the toe and the back, above a rubber sole that juts out a few centimeters from the heel. Notably, the shoe also comes in several distressed iterations, which are meant to evoke the 3XL's original vintage inspiration.
Balenciaga's 3XL Sneaker is now available to shop online and in the brand's stores for $1,190 USD. Take a look at the design in the campaign imagery above.
