adidas is celebrating 75 triumphant years in the world of sportswear with a selection of premium updates to its Samba, Gazelle, SL 72 and Handball Spezial silhouettes.
Each of the four shoes have been crafted in limited quantities with commemorative branded callouts, such as the number "75" on the heel, as well as "18.08.2024" on the inside lining of the shoe. It's important to note that adidas is actually older than 75 years and was initially founded in 1924 as Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory), but had officially taken on the adidas moniker when its co-founder Adolf ‘Adi’ Dassler split from his brother and partner Rudolf, the latter of which ended up establishing his own brand, PUMA.
The limited edition Samba is dressed in a simple black and white iteration, while the Gazelle is constructed in a burnt mustard suede upper complemented by black throughout the shoe. As for the SL 72 and Handball Spezial, adidas opts for a punchy red on white upper for the former, which also has nubuck accents, whereas the latter boasts a cobalt blue suede upper with white and gold details.
The adidas 75th Anniversary collection is currently available online and at select retailers,
