Back in August of last year, word of Union LA collaborating with Nike to revive the Field General sparked much intrigue. The Swoosh is no stranger to bringing back retro silhouettes, but what could the two have in store for the old American football silhouette? Last week, we caught a first glimpse of what the duo have been cooking up -- a lifestyle rendition with a reinvented upper that features intricate layering. While this iteration is almost a complete departure from its point of inspiration, Nike has now revealed its homage to the original -- dubbed the Field General 82.
Arriving in its OG "White/University Red," the silhouette revisits its original shape while updating its material composition. The white upper begins with a textile base that is joined by leather at the mudguard, eyestays and heel counter. Leather also adorns the heel tab and Swooshes, both of which sport red finishes that match the tongue's Nike branding. As for the sole unit, it arrives in an all-black finish that offers ample contrast.
At the time of writing, Nike has not confirmed any release details surrounding the return of the Field General 82, including in this "White/University Red" colorway. Stay tuned for updates, including the appearance of additional colorways, as we expect the silhouette to touch down on shelves once again later this year via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $100 USD.
